Abstract
The purposes of this study are to setup the diagnostic criteria for cervical abrasion, and to survey the prevalence and severity of cervical abrasion, and to find the causative factors of cervical abrasion, in korean population. The subjects were
240
persons aged 25-65. Diagnostic criteria was set according to the result of oral examination and analysis of stone replica. To find the causative factors, questionnarie had been done, Degree of abrasion according to the kind of adrasive in
toothpaste was
measured using motor-driven abrasion analysis machine.
@ES The results obtained are as follows:
@EN 1. Diagnostic criteria was set up as normal, cementum abrasion, dentin abrasion, secondary dentin abrasion, pulp abrasion and filling due to abrasion.
2. The prevalence rate of cervical abrasion was 30.8% for both sex, 37.7% for male and 24.6% for female.
3. The cervical abrasion was most prevaled in premolars which was followed by molars, canines and incisors in sequence.
4. The degree of abrasion of DCPA was higher than DCPD. In usual concentration of abrasives in toothpaste, the degree of abrasion was proportional to the concentration of abrasives.
5. The causative factors of cervical abrasion were age, gender, smoking toothbrushing method, drinking and having a taste for acidic foods.
